Chemical, Glass, Fabric and Metal Exposure At Work!
by Dr. Donna F. Smith
Even if the work environment is up to Health and Building Codes, these codes do not often consider the long-term effect of daily exposures to chemicals, glass, fabric, and metals, but focus more on immediate, lethal levels of exposure.
Businesses, which use chemicals, glass, fabric and metals in the making of the products they sell, cannot contain all the fumes and substances that get into the air or get propelled on to the skin of its workers. They do the best they can to minimize exposure, however, daily exposure in time takes its toll.
Exposure to a small amount of chemical, glass, fabric or metal poisoning every work day takes months or even years before the build-up in the cells and tissues adversely affects the physical and mental function of the worker. However, the day will come when the workers wonder why they do not feel so good, mental or physically, and why their energy is low even with sufficient rest, then specific symptoms will appear and not go away.
Because they are getting older, they often associate less energy and more symptoms as a sign of aging, instead of going a step further -- to consider that the daily exposures in a long-term work environment is at the root cause for their declining health. To assist employees in improving and maintaining their health, Dr. Smith analyzes and designs individualized Occupational Nutritional Care Programs for those working in companies which utilize chemicals, glass, fabric and metals, etc.
(Note: Occupational Nutritional Care Programs are also designed for people, who may not be exposed to chemicals, glass, fabric or metals, etc., however, they work long-hours or under stressful working conditions, with insufficient time to eat, drink water, or go to the bathroom as needed -- in time these factors adversely affects the healthy function of the human body. For more information, click on "Nutritional Care Programs.")
Business owners will notice a significant decrease in absenteeism and increase in productivity when quarterly Clinical Nutrition Occupational Care Tests and Evaluations are provided for their employees, along with providing employee incentive programs to encourage them to follow-through on the findings of these evaluations to improve and maintain their health.
Are You Exposed To Chemicals, Glass, Fabric and Metals?
Here is A Good Occupational Test!
If the first time you enter a building, you can smell the fumes (as in working in a chemical factory or a Nail Salon) or feel the substance on your skin (as in working in a glass factory or metal workshop), you are being exposed to chemical, glass, fabric and metals. (If you must wear protective clothing, face or eyewear, you are being exposed daily)
You will notice after a short while, especially with fumes, you do not smell them any more. It is not that they are gone, it is that the body is able to adapt to the smell by desensitizing the nasal membranes. You are still breathing in the fumes.
Now if you visit these places occasionally for short periods of time, the body can handle the poison you inhale or that come through the skin, etc. However, if you invest hours or days, especially every day, being exposed to these toxic fumes or substances, the body will become unable to eliminate this overload and thus, in time, the build-up in your cells and tissue will cause interferences in the equilibrium of your nutritional biochemistry, which leads to organ/gland dysfunction and, eventually, disease and premature death. Chemical, glass, fabric and metal toxicity affects both mind and body function.
